Depart Hotel at 8:30
Pamlico River Promenade on Stewart Parkway (30 minutes)
The city of Washington recently completed renovations to its waterfront. Enjoy the scenery and your daily exercise on this .74 mile walk.
Begin Historic Washington Walking Tour at 9:30 am (2 ½ hours)
The Historic Washington Walking Tour will route you through a major portion of
Washington’s Historic District. The cradle of the city, the district is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In addition, several individual sites on the trail are included in the register.

Beaufort County Arts Council (30 minutes)
Housed in the railroad depot portion of the Washington Civic Center, the Beaufort County Arts Council provides visitors a cultural look at eastern North Carolina through exhibits by regional artisans in the Civic Center gallery and other handcrafted items in the gift shop. Annually, the Arts Council hosts its juried Fine Arts Show in October. The Arts Council uses the Washington Civic Center for various concerts, performances and other programs.
Shopping in Downtown Washington (3 ½ hours)
With a rich cultural heritage that spans over two centuries, Washington has been home to countless merchants and shops, each with their own unique offerings. That tradition continues today: eclectic shops and boutiques line the historic waterfront district and offer a wide range of items, antiques, and curiosities that can't be found anywhere else.
