BCAC will present a traveling exhibit titled "Parcel Post" in the Washington Civic Center beginning September 2. The exhibit will run through October 13.
The exhibit marks a bit of a departure for BCAC. "Parcel Post" is a pilot art project originated by the North Carolina Center For Creative Aging (CCA-NC) in Greensboro, NC.
The Grace Harwell Senior Center in Washington was one of six sites in the east involved with the project. BCAC Executive Director Joey Toler along with Senior Center Director Carolyn Everette coordinated staff and volunteers to participate alongside older adults on the project.
These collective artworks were first showcased in Greensboro in May to coincide with Create & Celebrate Elder Arts 2010, a month-long celebration of the creativity of older adults sponsored by CCA-NC.
The exhibit will open with a reception on September 2 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, and the public is invited. Gallery hours at the Washington Civic Center are Tuesday - Friday from 9am -4pm.
